Officer Haugen died while off duty, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, compassion, and service that will not be forgotten.
Since joining the Le Sueur Police Department in 2008, Officer Haugen faithfully served his community in both part-time and full-time roles. His steady presence, professionalism, and heart for service made him an integral part of the department’s fabric. Fellow officers describe him as more than just a colleague—he was family. His absence leaves not only an empty space within the department but also within the lives of the countless people whose paths he crossed.
Beyond the badge, Karl was a brother, a friend, and a hero. His life’s work reflected a deep commitment to helping others, whether through his service in uniform or in the small, everyday acts of kindness that defined his character.
